Argentina is the fifth largest producer of wine in the world. (Who knew?!)  Argentine wine has its roots in Spain, when vine cuttings were brought over in 1557. Today Malbec is the most widely planted red grape variety followed by Conarda, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Tempranillo.  The Pedro Gimenez grape is the most widely planted white grape varietal, followed by Torrontes Riojano, Muscat of Alexandria, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.  Red wine pairings for steak with chimichurri almost always begin with Malbec.  For a white option, you might try an Argentine Chardonnay or Torrontes.  In the end, bring what you like to drink, be it wine, beer or something else.

Please don't forget to bring your wine glass and.....

Cheers!
