The Hyde Park Quarries Neighborhood group met at the end of August 2009 and discussed the following:
Hyde Park High School
As the construction is almost completed, the earliest date for the 240 students to occupy the building would be around Thanksgiving. Again, there are no plans to open the Santa Cruz entrance to traffic. All vehicles to the school will enter and leave from Mopac.
Football Games
Hyde Park has five more games scheduled with the largest crowd expected for Homecoming on October 2. The church has resolved the issue of getting the lights turned off on time, as mentioned by one of our neighbors.
Halloween Fair (You're Invited)
Balcones Woods and Mesa Park families are invited to join the Trick or Treat event in the Quarries on October 31, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. The games and rides are for elementary and middle school kids. Refreshments will be sold, and you are asked to bring a donation of canned goods for local charities.
Dogs Must Be on a Leash
There have been fewer dogs NOT on leashes in the Quarries, but still the problem persists. If you walk your dog on the property without a leash (and against the law in Austin), there will be a stronger effort for police ticketing. It's safer for your dog and other people and children if you leash your dog. Thanks!
Fence Repair
The Hyde Park Church is asking property owners whose fence borders the Quarries to repair it, if it is down.
