Welcome to Balcones Woods!

Welcome to your new neighborhood, it’s a great community in which to live.  We hope you have found your neighbors friendly and helpful.  If you need additional information, you will find it in the neighborhood directory.  Take some time to look through it.  If you have any questions, feel free to call me or email me – I’d love to hear from you!

In 1999 we installed a new security gate at the Commons Area.  You will need a key to get into the pool, playground, and sports courts.  If you don’t already have one, please call Terry Nygaard at 346-7512.  Click here for the request form to bring to him.

Wonder what goes on in Balcones Woods?  Well, it’s easy to find out.  Check the marquee at the entrance, go to the website , read the newsletter, or ask an operating committee or board member.   There is always something happening.

Do you wish you hadn’t packed everything when you moved?  Don’t worry, we have two neighborhood garage sales a year – in spring it is hosted by the Blue Wave Swim Team and in the fall by the Operating Committee. They do a lot of the work for you.  For a $5 donation, they list the event in the paper, put up signs, hand out maps, and put balloons on your mailbox so no one will miss your house.

Just want to hang out and meet the neighbors?  We have two great adult parties every year in the pool area – one of them is Casino Night – always a big hit.   We also have Splash Day, a party for all ages that officially opens our swim season.  You won’t want to miss the Fourth of July Parade either (it would be hard to!)  Not everything happens during the warm weather, Santa comes to the park every December and the Easter Bunny never misses our Annual Easter Egg Hunt.

Our website has links to a number of neighborhood clubs.  The BW Preschool Playgroup meets at the park every Friday from 9:30 to 11:30.  On bad weather days they meet at one of the members’ homes.  Balcones Woods also has a fabulous Book Club, a Bridge Club, a Meal Circle, a Davis Kindergarten Playgroup and a Baby-Sitting Co-op.  Check them out online or call me for more information.

Do you have any ideas of your own for our neighborhood?  Maybe something that you enjoyed in your last neighborhood or something you always thought would be fun… We’d LOVE to hear about it.  In fact, why don’t you drop in on an Operating Committee meeting?  We usually meet on the second Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at Seton Northwest, Conference Room A – 3rd Floor.  We’d love to have you.  Maybe you’ll decide you want to volunteer your ideas and talents on one of our many committees.  Active neighbors are what make this neighborhood SO GREAT!

Welcome Home!
